colombia trip: on the road
These photos were taken all on the same day. We drove around the Boyaca department (province/state) and stopped in several small towns. We drove all day long (and then some more). Our day began at 9:00 in the morning and we made it home at 2:00 in the morning the next day. B was an amazing traveling buddy. He has come a long way since his first big trip when he was 9 months!
Boyaca is a beautiful and very quaint region. Traditional houses there are simple, humble, and charming. Old Renault cars are still going strong and people walk to and from the fields on the side of the road. Time seems to pass by very slowly. Even clouds seem to move with great care.
Visiting this region leaves you inspired and with a good feeling in your heart. Just looking at these photos makes me happy!

Such a natural and scenic place. Loved the clouds over lake, so beautiful. Are those low highted houses with small doors are made up of clay !? Do people still live in those?
ReplyDeleteYes, they are and people still live in them. Isn't it amazing? It can get pretty cold at night in Boyaca and these houses have no heating. That's why people wear "ruanas" (like a poncho, but made of thick thick wool).
DeleteAndrea! Estoy maravillada con tus fotos y la forma en que describes cada lugar y cada momento! Me encanta tu blog!! Ha sido una gran fortuna encontrarte! Las fotos de Boyacá están hermosísimas! Muchas gracias por compartir esos tesoros!!
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias a ti, Leandra!
